⌾ Recommendations | 3 Things
Hello,
It is Friday. The day I send out a list of things that I hope will bring surplus jouissance to others.
|1| READING (Article) – The article The Diminishing Returns of Having Good Taste, by W. David Marx in The Atlantic was interesting. It talked a lot about how the internet has changed how people engage in arbitrage, "plucking interesting developments from subcultures" and then bringing them to the attention of others and getting social capital because their taste was good.
I think about this often. Reading the article was interesting because many half-thought thoughts I've had about this appeared in a more concrete thought-out way in the text.
|2| LISTENING (Album) – I'm really digging the new St. Vincent Album All Born Screaming (Apple Music, Spotify, Bandcamp).
My favorite tracks are:
- Track 1 – Hell is near
- Track 8 – Sweet fruit
|3| WATCHING (Series)—The Netflix series Ripley is incredible! It is an eight-episode limited series adapted from Patricia Highsmith's novel The Talented Mr. Ripley. It is shot in black and white, which I love, and the acting is some of the best I've seen in a TV series. You can watch the trailer for the series here.
Till next week, make those glorious. mistakes!
