⌾ Recomendations | 3 Things
Hello,
It is Friday, when I send out a list of things that might bring some Surplus Jouissance your way.
After being out of town so much recently, I've been doing lots of catching up work and have not had much time to explore new things. So, only three things today.
|1| WATCHING (Show) – The Apple TV+ show Sugar is so good! I'm hooked after watching the first two episodes on the plane coming back from CSD. The show scratches my noir itch, and it is strange. It is strange to the same extent/level Twin Peaks is strange, but Sugar is a different kind of strange than Twin Peaks was. You can check out the trailer for the show and see if it seems like something you'd be into.
The fourth episode of the first season dropped today (4/19). I have not had a chance to watch it yet, but as soon as I get a moment, I'm going to!
|2| READING (Book/Translation)—I'm reading Emily Wilson'sEmily Wilson translation of The Illiad (Amazon). It is riveting! Here is a short video of Wilson reading from the text.
I'm reading this now to explore some of the ways that ancient Greek myths and drama might provide interesting and useful metaphors for clinical phenomena experienced today.
|3| LISTENING (Album)—Warren Ellis linked to Mizukara, Masaya Ozaki's soon-to-be-released album. I listened to the preview tracks and preordered the album.
I've been listening to the tracks when walking and found them to be a wonderful companion to the thinking I'm trying to do.
As far as I can tell, you can only get the album on Bandcamp.
