When I started writing AM⌭PM, the goal was to write something every day. The simple plan was to write something every morning and write something every evening. I quickly learned that writing in the morning is not a problem. But writing something in the evening is a challenge for me.

In the morning, writing something like AM⌭PM (a generally unstructured crystalizing of some of my vaporous thoughts into words) is a pleasant way to let my mind slowly wake up and stretch a bit. It's nice. It's enjoyable.

In the evening, I tend to be more stressed out. If writing something is another thing I have to "get done," doing the writing irritates me. However, I find it helpful (for me) to use the evening as a time to return to what I wrote in the morning, re-read it, and edit it. Generally, what I wrote in the morning is a little interesting, but it is also the product of a "just woke up" brain and body, which means it is sloppy. I don't want to start writing something in the evening, but I don't mind cleaning something up and then sending it out.

This is something that I did not know. I honestly thought writing something at the start and at the end of the day would be no problem.

I suppose this is another good reason/result of writing every day.

Another thing that is kind of interesting to me: When I started this, I would usually wake up at 5:30 am, but this week there are two days where I've woken up even earlier than that.

I found that waking up at 5:30 am would give me till between 6:45 am and 7:00 am to read, write, exercise, then do some stretching. A little over an hour is not enough time to do that. If I skipped the writing, it would be enough time, but it is not enough time with the writing. Doing the writing every morning has made me get up even earlier.

The readership (the number of people who subscribe to this email and who open it) has gone way down. But the people who are left are engaged. They send words back to me. They tend to be nice.

Be that as it may, there is a desire to write something that lots of people would be interested in and want to read. I'm vain like that.
